Waverleigh and I connected via Facebook and hit it off right away. She's exactly the type of model I like working with. Excited to work, brimming with ideas. We immediately gelled as we talked about a first shoot, and the possibility of others down the road.

We got together just before Christmas in my home studio for what I call a "Getting To Know You" shoot. Bring over a few outfits and just do a basic photoshoot. It works great to break the ice, and get to know how each other works.

She brought three looks, the first of which was a Slytherin Girl from Harry Potter. A plaid skirt and a white shirt. We accented with a blue stir stick to use as a wand and a brocade sleeping gown I had in my inventory. That look turned out great, but then, they all did.

The second look was a simple black dress with a white collar. We played around with that look on my gorgeous red backdrop. I have a candy box from Valentines Day that I have covered in red material that we mixed into the shoot so we got some images that can be used for that holiday too.

The third look was the one I was warned about in advance. As a 53 year old man, I don't know what the heck a "kigu" is. Turns out they are very cute animal pajamas, in this case Pikachu from Pokemon. Waverleigh was adorable in the look, and while we were not going for sexy, there was certainly an element that came out. I think I will pursue this look again in a group shoot someday.

Overall, this was a fantastic shoot and reinvigorated me to keep working after a period of introspection and doubts about wanting to keep going. The current climate was pushing me away from photography, and this shoot and another I will post soon brought me back into focus. That is perhaps the best part of the whole thing.
